What are the properties of this oil?
You will want to know this before you decide if this is the oil you want to use.
Sweet Almond oil (Prunus dulcis) is obtained from the kernel and contains fatty acids, protein (20%), vitamins A and B, minerals, over 60% oleic acid (the major product of human glands) and 17-30% linoleic.
It is extracted by cold pressing, does not go rancid as quickly as some other oils and has very little odor which makes it a very good oil for a carrier or to use in your bath and body recipes.
This oil is an excellent emollient (softening and soothing to the skin).
It is a light nourishing oil and is rapidly absorbed into the skin.
It also has natural skin moisturizing properties and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and oily skin, as well as itchy, dry and inflamed areas.
It is beneficial for newborn babies and infants (way better for their delicate skin than baby oil which is usually always mineral oil, the only time you should use baby oil is on the diaper area when you want a coating on the skin).
It will also aid prematurely aged skin and is useful in night creams, lotions and cleansers. It is also very good to use in lip balms or lipsticks.
You can use this oil in a straight 100% solution or add it with other more heavy or expensive oils.
